The Finnish sauna has its origins in Finland, where it has been an integral part of everyday life for generations. Originally, it was used for relaxation, body care and even as a place for social gatherings.

Finnish sauna at sole uno - compactly explained

The combination of high temperature (approx. 80-100 °C) and low humidity (5-20%) is typical of the Finnish sauna. This dry heat enables an intense, very well-tolerated sweating experience.

Three Finnish saunas await you in the sole uno wellness world:

  • Indoor sauna: approx. 90 °C, 5-10% humidity - ideal for varied, aromatic infusions.
  • Earth sauna in the park: A semi-deep log cabin with a stone heater that reaches temperatures of around 110 °C and 15-25% humidity.
  • Fire sauna (Tuli sauna) in the park: A hexagonal log cabin made of Finnish polar pine with a large, glass-covered fireplace that can accommodate up to 24 people - the temperature here is around 100 °C and the humidity is 15-25%.

Regular visits to the sauna can strengthen the cardiovascular system, promote blood circulation and lower blood pressure. Alternating between hot and cold also supports the immune system and helps to reduce stress.

  • In case of illness: A cold or fever additionally weakens the body.
  • In the event of acute circulatory problems, it is advisable to seek medical advice beforehand.
  • If in doubt, people with uncontrolled high blood pressure, acute cardiovascular or venous problems (e.g. thrombosis) should refrain from using the sauna or consult their doctor.

Tips & tricks - How to make your sauna visit perfect

Before the sauna session

  • Dry in the sauna: wet skin cools the body and delays sweating.
  • Not on a full stomach: digestion takes energy and can put a strain on your circulation.
  • Drink enough: Drink approx. 1 liter of lukewarm water before the sauna session, if possible not during.
  • Warm feet: Cold feet make it more difficult to warm up or sweat - use foot warming basins beforehand.
  • Don't forget to shower: A thorough shower (with soap before the first sauna session) removes the greasy film on the skin.

In the sauna

  • No sweat on the wood: For reasons of hygiene, please always place a towel underneath.
  • Do not wear jewelry: metal can heat up and cause burns.
  • Choose the right seat: Beginners should start on the lower benches - it is less hot here.
  • Note the duration: A sauna session lasts 8-12 minutes, maximum 15 minutes.
  • Stand up slowly: Sudden movements can strain the circulation.

After the sauna

  • Cool down properly: First take a deep breath in the fresh air, then take a cool shower - from the feet upwards.
  • Plan to relax: Allow yourself 20-30 minutes of rest between sauna sessions - e.g. in our relaxation rooms or on the spacious sunbathing lawn.
